University Park workers go unpaid UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. — It’s payday in south suburban University Park. But when village employees checked their bank accounts Wednesday they found they had been stiffed. Several told WGN Investigates that their calls to village hall, the village manager and mayor have gone unanswered.Roughly 80 employees, including police and firefighters along with public works and other village staffers, may have been impacted. One village employee, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, said village officials fired the person in charge of payroll several days ago.“It's no coincidence that this happened on the first payday after new Village Manager Elizabeth Scott wrongfully terminated the one and only employee who maintained the village payroll,” said Anders Lindall of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 31 (AFSCME). The two teens realized they did not have a fly for their tent and wanted to return to the trailhead but were having difficulty. (NEWS10) - For more than a decade, Robin Schumacher has been the artist behind painting the jockey statues at the Saratoga Race Course. She’s also the person behind keeping a special Travers tradition alive each year. Discovering Saratoga: Meet the Saratoga Jockey Painter To honor the 50th anniversary of “Big Red” winning the Triple Crown, the artist has been painting quite a few jockeys in the blue and white checkered racing silks. This year she is donating a Secretariat jockey statue to Life Path’s "Meals on Wheels" program. (NEWS10) - This week, Warren County gathered together data from the 2020 United States census, to see what could be gleaned about the southern Adirondack region. Census data shared by the county shows a median age of 47.5 among county residents, ranking the county in as the fourth-oldest in the state by median age. It's actually a tie - Essex County came out with the exact same number. Hamilton, Columbia, and Delaware counties are all ranked higher. For Warren County, that median age breaks down into a population consisting of 59% residents between the ages of 18 and 64, down from 62% in 2010. Similarly, the number of residents under 18 is 18%, down from 21%.
