MONTREAL — Fewer than 2,000 Hydro-Québec customers were without power late Sunday afternoon, as the utility continued to repair outages after a major storm on Thursday along with new outages caused by additional thunderstorms. As of Sunday morning, fewer than 2,000 clients who lost power due to Thursday’s storm were still without electricity, but thousands of other customers had lost power as other storms passed through the province on Saturday night and Sunday, said hydro spokesman Francis Labbé.Those storms were bringing strong winds and rain, he said. “That will make vegetation make contact with our grid and that will provoke outages. Sometimes it’s just a a safety measure, the grid protects itself when it feels there is a a fluctuation in the tension, but sometimes there are more severe damages,” he said in an interview Sunday.“Our crews are intervening here and there to repair things, but sometimes more work has to be done.”The remaining areas...Hsieh Su-Wei and Barbora Strycova win second women’s doubles title together at Wimbledon

AUSTIN (KXAN) — With heat advisories in effect throughout Central Texas, it's not just residents who are feeling the heat — area wildlife are as well. The Austin Wildlife Rescue (AWR) said July and August are traditionally the busiest times of year for the organization, particularly with the summer months coinciding with baby season. But as elevated temperatures and humidity levels persist, AWR staff said wildlife dehydration has been a significant concern."It's hot enough on a regular summer just for us as staff to be able to go out and care for the animals, because we have a lot of outdoor caging that we give to the different species so that they can acclimate to the climate," said Jules Maron, AWR's operations manager. With baby season in full swing, Maron said AWR is receiving a lot more critical calls regarding orphaned babies in the heat. Typically, AWR recommends callers place the baby in a shaded place and wait for the mom to return in a couple of hours; but with this intense ...1 transported with serious injuries after single-vehicle collision in northeast Austin

Their 99 at-bats led baseball, and were just five fewer than last year’s total of 104.Twins pinch-hitters have provided some big moments this season, but overall it’s been, by MLB standards, a middling performance.“We’d probably like to get better results out of it, but we’re just trying to get the guys up there that match up best at certain points of the game,” manager Rocc Baldelli said. “I wouldn’t call it great, but I think it’s something that makes sense and we’re going to keep doing it.”Joey Gallo and Edouard Julien have two of the Twins three pinch-hit home runs this season, both of them game-winners, and Julien hit a go-ahead double in Friday’s 5-4 victory over Oakland.Julien is 2 for 8 as a pinch hitter this season but that’s six total bases and two go-ahead RBIs — not bad for a guy that had never done it before ...Latest news
