Country star Dustin Lynch was at an impasse. The only way forward was to have ‘Killed the Cowboy’

Published Mon, 03 Mar 2025 20:21:58 GMT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ahead of his sixth studio album, “Killed the Cowboy,” Dustin Lynch sensed some inner conflict. The 38-year-old country star had achieved many of his goals: He spent the last decade securing country radio hits, raking in billions of streams and touring with the likes of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Brad Paisley and Kane Brown. He was inducted into the Grand Olde Opry by Reba McEntire. After all that, the question became, what next? “I’m single, you know, at this point in my life, I’ve chased down a lot of dreams. But what’s the next level to unlock? You know, in my life, where do I want to be in five, 10, 20, 30 years?” he told The Associated Press. “Is that with somebody? Is it still being free and enjoying the adventure? So, there’s this ongoing battle that I have with myself daily (of) what’s the best version of me.”The album’s title, and the title track, stemmed from that idea. Does he kill the cowboy, or let him ride? If there is a narrative thread ...

GUIDONIA MONTECELIO, Italy (AP) — Matt Fitzpatrick seems intent on ending his losing streak at the Ryder Cup.The former U.S. Open champion poured in putts totaling 60 feet to help him and Rory McIlroy build a 4-up lead after five holes against Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele, then hit an approach to 4 feet to win another hole at No. 6.McIlroy was reduced to a spectator’s role by that point — he simply laughed and applauded Fitzpatrick after his partner’s 12-foot putt for eagle dropped at No. 5 — but helped out by making birdie at the seventh hole to put the Europeans 6 up.Fitzpatrick has lost all of his previous five matches at a Ryder Cup, in 2016 and 2021 when Europe was the visiting team. This is his first time playing fourballs. The other three fourballs were much closer.Max Homa and Wyndham Clark were the guys most likely to put a point on the board for the U.S. team after going 2 up against Robert MacIntyre and Justin Rose after nine holes.___Mark this down: T...

Wonder Group is buying meal kit company Blue Apron for about $103 million as the company looks to enhance its offerings.Wonder Group, which was founded by e-commerce mogul Marc Lore, began with vans that would deliver meals to residences, making the final preparations curbside. It has since started opening some stores, moving away from the van delivery service. Blue Apron has built itself into a known name in the meal kit sector, but it’s faced increased competition over the years from other meal kit businesses, like Hello Fresh, as well as restaurant and grocery delivery services and at home chefs. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee judge said Friday she is ending a conservatorship agreement between former NFL player Michael Oher and a Memphis couple who took him in when he was in high school.Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes said she is terminating the agreement reached in 2004 that allowed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to control Oher’s finances.
