ST. LOUIS - Amtrak gets the green light to bump up speeds between its St. Louis and Chicago corridor, with train rides soon expected to peak up to 110 miles per hour. Amtrak, in a news release Wednesday, says the new maximum speed will primarily be an option for its stations between Joliet and Alton. Trending: St. Louis County bill that aims to ban pedestrians on the roads moves forward “Trains will continue to operate at 110 mph for several weeks without a change in schedule to ensure everything on the system is running properly and to monitor the actual travel time between stations,” said John Oimoen, IDOT Deputy Director, Rails.Prior to Wednesday, 90 mph was the maximum authorized speed on Amtrak's Illinois routes. Amtrak is hopeful the change will reduce times for its Lincoln Service round-trips, which also stop in Quincy and Carbondale, and the Texas Eagle, which runs from Chicago to Dallas with a St. Louis stop. Just as there is no one right way to simmer up a marinara sauce, nor a single “correct” apple pie, there are myriad recipes for making bulgogi.A classic Korean dish of beef marinated in some combination of soy sauce, sugar, garlic and ginger, the meat is then grilled until the sauce caramelizes and condenses, turning salty and sweet, zingy and umami-rich. It’s those heady flavors mixed with the char that give the dish its deep appeal, making it one of the most beloved preparations of Korean cuisine — and one of the most adaptable. As my colleague Eric Kim put it a few years ago in a fascinating deep dive, versatility is one of bulgogi’s virtues.“If you grew up in a Korean household,” he wrote, “then the dish wasn’t just occasional barbecue; it was dinner on the regular, a quick pan-fry on the stovetop.”This weeknight recipe embodies that easygoing spirit. Its foundation is the marinade, which can be quickly whisked together with pantry staples. (If your pantry doesn’t already i...Cobble Fire in Riverside County halted at 5 acres

Faith and science are typically polar opposites. But regardless of your philosophical standpoint and how they influence your everyday decisions, sex is an intimate yet carnal need that almost every individual seeks. However, there seems to be a correlation between one’s knowledge and beliefs when it comes to their sex life quality. How do a person’s religious beliefs affect their sex life quality? The University of Exeter researchers surveyed individuals who consider themselves religious or spiritual. They found out that religious people reported having a more satisfactory sex life quality — despite having less frequent sex than average. One theory by Dr. Vegard Skirbekk (of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and Columbia University), “As religious individuals are less likely to engage in casual sex and are more likely to limit sexual activity to a relationship based on love this can lead to lower expectations of sexual activity outside a formal union, as well as increased satisf...Latest news
