Women sue LASD alleging 'traumatizing' traffic stop was unnecessary, illegal An advocate for domestic violence survivors and her mother are suing Los Angeles County after deputies used "violent tactics" in a 2022 traffic stop in East Los Angeles, their attorney claims.On Sept. 25, 2022, Gabriela Koutantos of Monrovia was driving a rented U-Haul van that she had used to deliver donated furniture to the East Los Angeles Women's Center, a shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence where Koutantos serves as executive director.L.A. County Sheriff's Department deputies, believing the van was stolen, executed a "high-risk" traffic stop near Atlantic Boulevard and Hubbard Street, held Koutantos at gunpoint, handcuffed her and "held her in a lengthy detention in a police car," according to her complaint. Car slams into Temecula home, causing massive explosion A car veered off the 15 Freeway and crashed into a home in Temecula, causing a massive explosion early Thursday. Siblings Gaby Rivera and Angel Vega were two of eight people inside the home when the crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. “All of a sudden, I heard screeching,” Angel told KTLA’s Rick Chambers. “Then the next you thing know, a loud crash and bang.” He said the car hit the gas line and the fuse box. Within a matter of seconds, they started seeing the flames.  “It was scary. City officials said traffic will be temporarily rerouted from Market Street between Third and 11th streets for construction work on the roadway and underneath the Muni Metro trackway. Union reports tentative deal reached with Kaiser Permanente Crews will be installing underground electrical conduits for new traffic signals and constructing new concrete sidewalks, according to the city's Department of Public Works.The two-week shutdown, ending on Oct. 28, will affect Muni's F-line service.
