Multiple injuries reported in nighttime missile attack on Ukrainian capital KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s capital came under another missile attack early Wednesday, resulting in multiple injuries and damaged buildings, officials said.A series of loud explosions could be heard in Kyiv at 3 a.m. as the city’s air defenses were activated for the second time this week.Kyiv Mayor Vitali Kitschko said on Telegram that debris from intercepted missiles fell in the eastern Dniprovskyi district, injuring at least five people, three of whom were hospitalized. (AP) — A jury has acquitted a former Southern California elementary school janitor who spent years in jail after being accused of sexually abusing students, his attorneys announced Tuesday.Pedro Martinez, of Hesperia, who’s been jailed since January 2019, was found not guilty on Monday on all 10 counts against him. An 11th charge was dismissed during his 3 1/2-month-long trial, according to a statement from his attorneys.He has been released.“We are thrilled that Pedro Martinez has been found not guilty of any of the terrible crimes that he was accused of, and he is home again with his family,” defense attorney Ian Wallach said in the statement. Man fatally struck by semi while allegedly fleeing from police on West Side CHICAGO — Police say a man is dead after he was hit by a semi-truck while allegedly attempting to flee from police on the city’s West Side on Tuesday afternoon.According to police, officers were observing a stolen vehicle that was parked outside of a business in the 800 block of South Cicero Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when a 24-year-old man exited the vehicle.Police attempted to perform an investigatory stop, but the man allegedly fled on foot.  Calls for NAACP Illinois conference president to resign after racist remarks Police say the man only made it a short distance before he was struck by a semi-truck. Missouri 18-year-old shot, killed in duck hunting incident: officials WINFIELD, Mo. (KTVI) – An 18-year-old high school senior was shot and killed in a tragic duck hunting incident in Missouri over the weekend, according to authorities. Investigators said Trent Busch died from a gunshot wound while duck hunting at the Ted Shanks Conservation Area in Pike County, about 100 miles north of St. Louis, on Sunday. Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was an accident with no malicious intent.  A Missouri Department of Conservation official said Busch was with a group of friends but added that it’s too soon to release specifics about what happened.  He said that even though the shooting appears to be a tragic accident, the investigation is continuing.   The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Missouri Department of Conservation in the investigation.
